The Lord Is Constant

Description

A hymn on the eternality and immutability of God from the series of hymns titled "The Lord Is"

Lyrics

The Lord is constant, without change, in purpose or in nature.
He had no start; he will not end—unlike the mortal creature.
He is the Three in One
Who was and is to come,
Eternally the same,
The God of endless fame,
The Alpha and Omega.

The Lord has, from the ages past, before the world’s foundation
Devised a way to rescue men and give them full salvation.
Behold His perfect plan:
The Son became a man,
Th’Eternal One was slain
For mortal creatures’ gain;
His priesthood is forever.

The Lord will give eternal life to all His chosen people
And give eternal death to those who disobey the gospel.
Should earth or heaven change,
His cov'nant will remain.
In this my hope shall be:
He’ll always plead for me.
I'll praise Him now and ever.
