Ever to Obey You

Description

This hymn is based on Psalm 81 and comes from the Psalms and Hymns of Reformed Worship collection (edited by Peter Masters). These beautiful lyrics express our desire to always obey our Lord, with gladness walking with Him all the days of our life. The motive for this obedience is seen in the verses of the song - because of our salvation we are set free to be holy and happy. May God grant us continued victories of grace in our lifelong battle against sin!

Lyrics

Verse 1:
Jesus, Lord, our strength and Savior,
All our praise and love we bring,
And, in mighty grace rejoicing,
Glorious hymns of worship sing.

Chorus:
Help us ever to obey You,
Gladly walking in Your ways,
How we need Your strength to run the race,
Grant us victories, sweet victories,
glorious victories of grace.

Verse 2:
Jesus, You have surely saved us,
And from sin's dark bondage freed;
Opening our mouths with longing,
Bless and meet our every need.

Verse 3:
To our hungering souls, the finest
Of the wheat of life supply;
Light and grace and peace providing
Which will more than satisfy.

Words from the Evangelical Psalter and David Ward. Music by David L. Ward. Based on Psalm 81.
