Praise Him for His Saving Word

Description

The Word of God is the believer's greatest earthly treasure for in it we know and experience Jesus Christ. The Word is referred to as "living and active" in Hebrews 12, and Jesus is called "The Word" in John chapter 1. In this sense we can speak of the Word as a living being and as stanza three says, the Word "declares grace in human form," and "shares heights and depths of life." Hymns celebrating the greatness of the Bible are in short supply; we humbly call for songwriters to write and re-discover hymns that help us to cherish our lifeline to knowing God.

Lyrics

             (Show Original Wordings)
Praise to God whose word was spoken
In the deed that made the earth.
His the voice that called a nation;
His the fires that tried her worth.
God has spoken, God has spoken;
Praise Him for His saving word.

Praise to God whose word was written
In the Scripture's sacred page,
Record of the revelation
Showing Him to ev'ry age.
God has spoken, God has spoken;
Praise Him for His saving word.

Praise to God whose Word Incarnate
Heights and depths of life did share.
Deeds and words and death and rising,
Grace in human form declare.
God has spoken, God has spoken;
Praise Him for His saving word.

Praise to God whose word is answered
By the Spirit's voice within.
Here we drink of joy unmeasured,
Life redeemed from death and sin.
God is speaking, God is speaking;
Praise Him for His saving word.
